Wow. That was quite a break....

There's a double meaning in that title!

I work off of my lap top in the family room, and usually place my laptop on the sofa table behind the table. When we decorated for Christmas, we moved the table. One morning I was on the laptop around 5:30, very tired, and I reached over and "dropped" the laptop on the sofa table...about a 2 inch fall. Only, the sofa table wasn't there and it fell....hard. It was still under warranty and we had purchased the ultimate protection package so I wasn't worried. Big mistake. It took forever to get it back, and it's still not "right". Little things mess up constantly, all my saved files are g-o-n-e and it's a source of frustration to try to work on it now. Boo.

Over the Christmas break we traveled a lot of course, and I am just really behind on reading all the blogs I subscribe to. My Google Reader is completely overwhelming with missed posts. Ahhhhh! So many good ideas right at my finger tips and I can't get caught up.

I also have to admit, I am working hard to keep my head above water in the classroom. Teaching new content for the first year is HARD. Trying to learn how to think like a standardized test is HARD. There is nothing about this year that is comfortable. Everything that was familiar and "easy" for me is gone, the familiar faces of my former grade level, the comfort of the classroom I taught in for 9 years, the confidence in how I taught the content...add on top of that we have new administration....and yep....I'm completely broken.

So being broken has it's advantages. I know a level of humbleness that is new to me. I have new people in my life that love me, support me, and inspire me. I can connect with the students that are broken too. My heartache is fresh and it's helped me not only be compassionate, but truly empathetic.  It's also renewed my faith in God, knowing that He can restore me, and continue making me into the person He created me to be.

So, the break is over, the peices are being put back together, and the posting and reading will return. Thanks for your patience, if you are still there! :)

P.S. I have a TON of comments/emails to return, I will get to them I promise! If you have a pressing question, as it again and let me know it's priority!

  2. So sorry to hear about your computer! Mine died a few days after Christmas...just when I thought things were winding down enough to get all caught up with my own blog and Google Reader! Wrong-o! We had to get a new one. Though I love it, I, too lost a lot of saved materials. Thankfully, most of it was on my flash and still safe!

  3. Thank you so much, both of you! I'm so glad I have a single reader left after that long of a break!

Holly, I guess we both learned the hard lesson of backing up our back ups, huh!?!
