After reading about other teachers who have ditched their desks, I am debating on that decision myself. In my previous classroom there was no doubt the room belonged to the children. I was required to have a lot of "stuff" and the teacher desk really helped me get away from the required "clutter" that I kept as neat as possible. Now that I've got a clean slate with much less "stuff", I feel I can share my "area" with my students. I'm thinking of taking out my big hunk of teacher desk and just using my kidney shaped table as my work area. The only problem I can foresee is where to put my computer, but any small table should work for that.
I got rid of my desk for the upcoming school year...
ReplyDeleteI never really used it much...and now I have really opened up my room.
